So we came, we saw and we still want the new iPad…..

The rumor mill was running in overdrive before we knew about the iPad event. Most of the rumors were what we had been expecting like an improved camera. However, some were magic – like the iPad being able to project its screen on any surface in 3D.

Reality

The all new iPad has an amazing new retina display – which is four times better than the iPad 2. Apple have claimed the 2048 X 1536 pixel display is the best on any device and better than a HD TV.

In order to power the new display, the iPad has a A5X chip with quad-core graphics. This enables the iOS to run as smoothly as the iPad 2 and the battery life is not sacrificed as it remains at impressive 10 hours.

There is a new iSight camera which enables you to shoot pictures at 5 megapixels and record videos at full 1080p.

The new iPad now supports 4G LTE which means you can browse the web at super fast speeds. You can also use your iPad as a personal hotspot which enables other wi-fi enabled devices to feed-off your iPad. Unfortunately, the 4G LTE speeds are currently unavailable in the UK but O2 is testing out the technology for roll out soon.

In addition to the new iPad there is a iOS update which provides more features to the best OS on any tablet or smart phone. While these updates are nothing revolutionary, some include much needed bug fixes. The features themselves for iOS enable you to tweet straight from the device, airplay to Apple TV, receive and send iMessages and collaborates everything with the handy notification center.

Elysium Worthy

The all new iPad is clearly the leader of the tablet market and the latest update will cement its position for another year. The retina display will make surfing the net, reading a e-book or playing games even more of a joy on the device. While we are not convinced that iPad 2 owners should write-off their trusted devices, if your in the market for a tablet the new iPad is the clear first choice.

The new iPad is available in the UK from 16 March 2012 and prices start at £399 for the Wi-Fi model with a 16 GB capacity. The iPad 2 is still available to purchase with a price reduction to £329 for the Wi-Fi model with 16 GB capacity.
