World War Z

You will know that Elysium Magazine loves a good movie. With Skyfall out of the way, and the Hobbit around the corner, we are looking forward to the blockbusters of 2012. It is already looking exciting as we have now got our mitts on the World War Z trailer and…it looks excellent!

The full-length trailer for the post-apocalyptic World War Z starts off fairly innocently, with a family stuck in city traffic playing getting on just fine. Then comes the excitement –  out of nowhere, police on motorcycles zoom through the stalled cars, taking side mirrors along with them. Helicopters and mysterious explosions create city-wide panic, as an officer warns people to keep inside their cars, before getting blasted by a garbage truck himself.

The production of World War Z has hit problem after problem with Brad Pitt himself allegedly getting frustrated with delays and the creative direction from his team. Apparently trouble emerged early, only three weeks before shooting was to begin in June 2011, sources say director Forster had not made critical decisions about what the zombies would look like and how they would move. “They just couldn’t get it right,” one insider says. “There was a lot of spinning of plates, a lot of talking. [But] they did not have a plan.

Production issues seem to have been resolved as we do get to see what the eventual result of the zombies are! The two-and-a-half-minute trailer reveals the mass hysteria surrounding the impending zombie apocalypse and what one man, U.N. employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), will do to make sure his wife (Mireille Enos) and young daughters are safe. While their safety is threatened by fast-moving zombies they do what anyone of us would do. Run!

Not much else is uncovered about the actual plot of the movie but we will be keeping an eye out for new trailers before it hit the big screen in June 2013. If, like us, you can’t wait that long then The Walking Dead should keep your zombie needs entertained!
