Last night saw the capital awash with glitz and glamour as the BAFTA 2013 awards took place at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. Despite the cold and wet conditions the actors and actresses upped the style stakes to put on a very good show indeed. We’re all over style at Elysium Magazine so here’s our pick of the discerning gents ticking all the key sartorial boxes last night.

Ben Affeck

It was a great night for Ben – his film Argo picked up the Best Film and Editing awards, whilst he also won the Best Director gong too. With all the attention focused on him last night it was a good job Ben opted for a suave Burberry suit. The smart cut meant Ben always looked the part when posing for the paparazzi, awards in hand.

Bradley Cooper

No stranger to good style, Bradley ensured that he’ll be remembered for all the right style reasons by rocking a smart black tuxedo. We’re big fans of the three-piece here at Elysium Magazine and from this evidence so is Bradley. He was nominated for the Leading Actor award for the film Silver Linings, whilst the film won Best Adapted Screenplay.

Henry Cavill

The Man of Steel looked like he’d just stepped out from the door of his favourite London tailor. The classic black tuxedo again was the hero in the style stakes last night. If it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it.

George Clooney

With age comes experience, and knowing how to look the part when the eyes of the world are fixed upon you. George played it well by going for the smart black suit coupled with a dapper navy coat. It’s the smart sartorial choice.

The Beard Trend

Perhaps last night will also be known for another style trend as a host of leading male stars showed off well-groomed beards. Whether it was purely down to the frightfully cold conditions, Ben Affleck, George Clooney and Hugh Jackman were all flying the flag for facial fuzz at the BAFTA awards. Watch this space to see if it catches on later this month at the Oscars
