The discerning gent craves clarity from many aspects of his life. The food he eats and the drinks he enjoys have to be as natural as possible. After all, you are what you eat. Its for this reason Elysium Magazine wanted to look at something as pure as pure can be – and we think we’ve found it as we welcome to the legendary drinks cabinet this week, Purity Vodka.
It’s quite the claim to label something pure. Definitions can be loose especially in the spirits world but we have to say this Swedish spirit nails it on this score. Lets first look at the how they bring this vodka to life – the winter wheat and barley is all-organic and grown on the 13th century estate of Ellinge Castle in southern Sweden.
In what you could call a labour of love, the resulting vodka is then distilled a total of 34 times in one of the smallest vodka distilleries in the world – only 10% of the original fluid makes the grade. The final spirit is so pure that it doesn’t require any filtration whatsoever. The use of untouched and deionised water then helps to dilute down the cleanest and purest expression of the spirit – and this is what a discerning gent likes to enjoy.
On to the palate, Purity Vodka opens with a sweet smooth flavour and finishes spicy with notes of black pepper and citrus. When mixed with water it opens up in the same way a whisky would giving a deeper character, making it a great choice for balanced cocktails or straight up on the rocks. This ultra-premium vodka is an award winner too, picking up a vast collection of gold medals and titles.
As for the bottle itself, it looks like it’s been carved from Superman’s crystal-encrusted Fortress of Solitude. It sparkles in the light and would instantly become the eye-catcher of your collection.
Purity Vodka is 40% ABV and is available in 70cl bottles from The Drinks Shop, RRP £40.59
