Christmas is all about excitement. It’s the time of year when everything we do, see, eat and drink is dusted in that extra special festive feeling that captures our mood. So for such an exciting time of the year you’d be right in thinking your festive tipple should be special. That means champagne! So for the drinks cabinet (via the chiller) of the discerning gent this week is Laurenti Champagne.
Of the three decadent new varietals in the collection, the Grande Cuvée is the tipple of choice this Christmas. Made of a subtle blend of Pinot Noir (70%) and Chardonnay (30%) and it’s characterised by its fine bubbles and notes of liquorice and ripe lemon. Aged for three years in the Laurenti cellars, it’s taken on character well beyond its tender age.
More about the heritage, the Laurenti name started in France back in 1923. Located in Les Riceys, Laurenti grapes have been growing using the sustainable viticulture approach. This is the south Champagne region, where Laurenti has more than 45 hectares of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay grandness. As it’s the south, there’s naturally plenty of warm sunshine and nutrient-rich clay-limestone soil which gives these grapes a powerful growth combination.
So all that’s left for the discerning gent to do this Christmas is stock up and chill well. Then it’s all about waiting for the big day. Once there pop away to your hearts’ content. It’s been a good year for the discerning gent.
