The 2014 Golden Globe nominations have just been announced and Elysium Magazine has been working through the nominations to pin down next year’s favourites. Last year, we did pretty well picking the winners of the Oscars, time will tell whether we are on the right track.

 

Best Drama

 

Twelve years a slave is our odds-on favourite for the title of ‘Best Drama’ for portraying the story of Solomon Northup as played by Chiwetel Ejiofor.

 

Gravity on Elysium Magazine

 

Gravity is second in line for this award with Captain Phillips shortly behind.

 

Best Comedy

 

American Hustle is the strong favourite for Best Comedy or Musical priced and is set to be released on New Year’s Day in the UK. Inside Llewyn Davis and Nebraska are our next tipped winners.

 

Best Actress – Drama

 

Cate Blanchett looks to have the title of Best Actress – Drama sewn up for her role in ‘Blue Jasmine’.

Sandra Bullock is next up for Gravity and Saving Mr Banks’ Emma Thompson are the closest contenders for this award.

 

Best Actor – Drama

 

As for the Best Actor – Drama award it looks to be somewhat of a two-horse race with Twelve years a slave star Chiwetel Ejiofor and Robert Redford for his role in All is Lost battling it out for this prestigious award.

 

 

Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy

Bruce Dern is leading the charge to secure the title of Best Actor in the Musical or Comedy category for his role in ‘Nebraska’, with the Leonardo Di Caprio the early second favourite for this award for The Wolf Of Wall Street.

 

Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy

 

It’s a tough category but we are predicting Greta Gerwig gets the gold for Best Actress – Musical or Comedy for Frances Ha.

 

Best Supporting Actor

As for the best supporting actor it is another two-horse race between Twelve years a slave actor Michael Fassbender and The Dallas Buyers Club’s Jared Leto.

 

Best Supporting Actress

 

The best supporting actress award looks set to head the way of Lupita Nyong’o for her role in ‘Twelve years a slave, with Jennifer Lawrence the nearest contender for her part in American Hustle.
