Exclusivity is a desirable trait for any discerning gent to crave. Whether it’s style, technology or food and drink – it’s that exclusive level we all strive for. So this week Elysium Magazine welcomes a rarity to your drinks cabinet selection as luxury blended Scotch whisky Johnnie Walker Blue Label introduces two slickly designed bottles for your visual and palates attention – the City Editions.

The two new bottles have been intricately designed to represent two of the UK’s most iconic cities: London and Edinburgh. The level of detail on each bottle is a sight to behold – gold rendered prints taking the discerning drinker on a journey through the streets of said cities.

The London Edition captures the spirit of the capital’s unique architecture including St Paul’s Cathedral, Big Ben and London Bridge. It’s not just the old, as contemporary additions to the London skyline include The Shard, and The Gherkin.

The Edinburgh Edition celebrates the history of the homeland – Johnnie Walker’s Scottish roots and of course Scotch whisky. Captured on the bottle include Edinburgh Castle, the Scott Monument and the Duke of Edinburgh statue.

As for the whisky itself, it’s symbolic of the uber-premium nature of the Johnnie Walker brand. Only the very best whisky makes it into Blue Label, only one in 10,000 casks contain whisky of the required high standard to create the smooth signature taste of this whisky. How’s that for exclusivity?

On the nose, Blue Label has a mellow and rounded scent with notes of dry smokiness. It has a velvety smoothness, best savoured just as whisky ambassador Colin Dunn explained to Elysium Magazine last year. This tasting technique will bring out the honey, hazelnuts and orange that go onto develop into a dark chocolate finish. The bottle is easy on the eye while the liquid teases the tongue.

The 4,000 limited edition bottles are available in a unique gift box with each 70cl vessel individually numbered. Johnnie Walker Blue Label City Edition is 40% ABV and available from June 2015 at Harvey Nichols and Selfridges, RRP £199.00.
