At Elysium HQ, we talk a lot about fitness and try to push ourselves to the next level. We have heard a lot about SoulCycle and its celebrity following so we were keep to see what the hype was about.
So what is SoulCycle? It claims to completely redefined fitness, health and happiness through its unique mind-body-soul experiences. The brand’s category-creating studios have welcomed a host of celebrities, influencers, professional athletes and fitness enthusiasts. Fans of the brand include Beyoncé and Jay-Z, David and Victoria Beckham, Lady Gaga, Ciara, The Chainsmokers, Khloe Kardashian, Draymond Green, Michelle Obama, Madonna and more.
At the heart of every SoulCycle class is an inspiring instructor, and the new studio locations will be in different. SoulCycle prides itself on having the best talent with globally recruited instrutors, each extensively trained to teach SoulCycle’s proprietary method. The instructors serve not only as guides for each class, but above all as motivators and inspirational coaches for their community of committed riders.
I visited SoulCycle in London, just by Oxford Circus mid-afternoon on a Friday. The first thing that struck us was how busy it was; the clean and open store front had a mixture of people purchasing retail gear, making enquiries for future classes and scrambling to find a bike for the upcoming session. The staff we great in getting me checked in, setting me and the bike up and passing me over to my fantastic instructor, Kendra.
The session was full of energy, positive focus and great music. The energy from the 50+ SoulCyclers was infectious. I quickly forgot about how difficult it was and moved on to how much faster could I go! Kendra was fantastic in getting the entire room going and engaging with absolutely everyone. I was amazed at how quickly I had become part of a community. Preach!
In the 45 minutes or so class, I clocked in just over 600 calories burned. Not bad for my first attempt. The overall buzz, enjoyment and ease at which I booked the session made the session a pleasure. It doesn’t surprise me that SoulCycle is expanding across the City. Studio openings are planned in Chelsea, Notting Hill and Marylebone. Chelsea and Notting Hill are planned to open this Autumn, with Marylebone opening in 2020. Each location will feature bright and beautiful retail spaces offering SoulCycle’s lifestyle apparel collections, including Soul by SoulCycle, the brand’s highly sought after, in-house line of performance and lifestyle apparel.
