With the focus on men’s style amplified over the next week with London Collections: Men in the capital it’s always good for the discerning gent to have style tips available at his fingertips. Of course the Style section of Elysium Magazine is already part of the discerning gent’s sartorial armoury, but extra assistance is always welcomed. One of our favourite men’s style apps has to be Mr Porter The Tux (Lite Edition).

 

It’s the perfect balance of style inspiration and shopping. It’s great for the discerning gent preparing for a party and needs to get the look, as well as the knowledge, just right. The Lite Edition is a much more streamlined version of the full app, but still provides a uniquely stylish experience.

 

The Good

All the imaginative content of Mr Porter is brought to life in this iPad app with intuitive navigation, and images that react to your touch. The sections are well thought out with favourites like:

–          Five Tux Looks To Try – expert selection of evening wear options

–          It’s All In The Details – the most stylish accessories

–          Signature Cocktails – expert mixologists show you how to shake up your drinks

 

The Bad

The Lite Edition has drastically reduced the size of the app from something that was well over 1GB in size in the full version, so size is no longer an issue. The next update could perhaps benefit from style tips from the stars, or style guides for wider variety of scenarios but we’re sure something like this is already in the pipeline from the Net-A-Porter group.

 

Verdict

All-in-all this is a very useful sartorial guide for the discerning gent intent on looking good for the big occasion. It’s one of the definite style apps to have on your iPad.
