There’s nothing that screams ‘party’ louder than the sight and sound of the Brazil Carnival. It’s a scene to behold and the entire Elysium Magazine team highly recommends a trip to Rio de Janeiro to witness one of the world’s biggest spectacles, if you haven’t already. For those who fancy something a little closer to home you can take pleasure in a drink aptly named and primed for a berth in the discerning gent’s drinks cabinet as we introduce you to Absolut Karnival.
First things first, let’s address the Brazil Carnival – it starts next Friday 28th February up until Tuesday 4th March so you better get that suitcase packed and tickets booked pronto. Now onto Absolut Karnival, it’s a flavoured vodka combining the tropical tastes of passion fruit and orange blossom in heavenly union. This flavour double-act alone is enough to tempt the discerning drinker. Add vodka to the mix and you’ve got a party in a glass.
Flavour is the main priority when it comes to spirits worthy of drinks cabinet stature but the allure of this tipple doesn’t stop there. Something of a habit for the guys at Absolut, this bottle is another work of art, literally. Karnival features artwork by the Brazilian graphic novel artist and writer Rafael Grampá. Here he extends his creative collaboration with the vodka brand by bringing a unique and colourful vision of Latin America’s most transformative celebration to the already iconic bottle.
The colourful characters parade around the bottle as if to the beat of the Rio drums. There’s a dog dressed up as a rooster (why not?) along with a samba-strutting “Queenfish” to highlight just two of the illustrations Grampá has dreamed up.
Much like the tickets to Brazil if you’re planning on catching the live action, you’ll need to move fast to get your hands on a bottle of this. There’s said to be a mere 500 of these available in the UK so shake that tail feather to get a shot of the action. It’s a tipple best enjoyed with plenty of friends.
Absolut Karnival is 40% ABV and available in one litre bottles exclusively at Selfridges and nowhere else, RRP £34.99.
