As the style stakes are upped for the return of London Collections: Men next week, thoughts at Elysium Magazine turned to fashionable tipples. Now what could be any more apt, and suitably stylish, than a leading global fashion designer and his very own brand of vodka? Well it looks like we’ve found it as this week as we welcome to the discerning gent’s drinks cabinet Roberto Cavalli Vodka.
The Tuscan designer is renowned all over the world for his fine taste in the fashion world, and he seems to have made the transition into the world of alcoholic spirits with just as much panache and sartorial charm. This additional to his portfolio is an ultra premium vodka designed for the world’s tastemakers – and so is perfect for the discerning gent too, especially during LC:M.
Made in Italy where the wheat is cultivated in the South-Western Alps and the water is taken directly from the slopes of Monte Rosa. This distinct wheat and the low-mineral content of the soft water combine to produce small batch vodka that is pure and smooth. As Roberto Cavalli says himself: “like water and fire coming together in a single element”.
The result is an ultra premium vodka with a very clean and unique taste. On the nose there are neutral aromas with a subtle touch of cream and citrus rind. On the palate it is soft with delicate hints of sweet pudding and spicy notes. These all come together for a long creamy finish. It’s definitely a special vodka that should command a spot in the drinks cabinet of the discerning gent.
Of course this wouldn’t be a fashion designers’ vodka if the bottle itself wasn’t worth talking about too – and Roberto doesn’t disappoint. Known for his love of the ladies, it’s no surprise that the bottle has a couple of telltale nods to the fashion world. A frosted glass bottle that is as sleek and eye-catching as one of his supermodels on the catwalk is wrapped around the midsection by a snake that’s aiming for the top of the bottle.
The vodka is available is numerous sizes too. For the grand statement why not go for the six or three litre magnums. It could be the definite crown jewel in the drinks cabinet – you wouldn’t expect a fashion designer to go for the obvious now? If your drinks cabinet is lacking the height to house one of these giant beauties then fear not as standard sizes are available too.
Roberto Cavalli Vodka is 40% ABV and available in, amongst larger sizes, 70cl bottles from Harvey Nichols, RRP £74.00
