The Christmas party season will soon be upon the discerning gent. Whether at work or home, there’s no denying that a classic cocktail will be desired for the occasion. That can only lead to one thing, a timeless gin cocktail, for which you’ll need a good gin. For that reason this week’s introduction to the drinks cabinet is Tanqueray Gin.
This is a classic London Dry Gin, by which we mean it lacks the sugar to make it sweet. If you’re going to be drinking gin this festive period, let’s face it – it’ll be hard to avoid, make sure it’s a premium grade tipple steeped in gin aficionado heritage. This one was crafted back in 1830 and balanced with botanicals, just as any good gin should.
The botanicals in this case consist of peppery coriander, aromatic angelica root, sweet liquorice and that gin staple juniper. This gives Tanqueray Gin its smooth yet bold flavour. It’s an earthier juniper-heavy gin on the palate, whilst the botanicals ensures a good nose.
The bottle should also be given special mention too. Inspired by the traditional three-piece cocktail shaker, it’s a worthy addition to the discerning gent’s collection in substance and presence.
Tanqueray Gin is 47.3% ABV and available in 70cl bottles from Waitrose, RRP £21.30.
