In the event that it has escaped the attention of the discerning drinker, this week is London Cocktail Week (LCT). In its fifth year, this annual fixture of mixology pour-fection in the capital looks even bigger and better than previous years. With plenty going on this week it’s best the discerning gent has a guide as strong as the cocktails he’ll enjoy to keep him on track – let Elysium Magazine navigate this road, one sumptuous cocktail at a time.

For the initiated, LCT is essentially the only week in the year where the discerning gent can step into many a drinking establishment (200+ London bars) and order cocktails for a mere £4 a go – otherwise unheard off outside of this particular seven day segment. Simply get yourself a wristband (£15) from the website to enjoy the privilege.

On top of the relentless bar-hopping this week, why not also get involved in one (or more) of the various events taking place too, allowing the combination of learning at the same time as drinking along with some eating too. For example, the Belvedere Presents: Drink, Eat, Live event (8th-10th Oct) will be hosting workshops and talks about drinking and cocktails, serving cold-pressed juices along with low-alcohol/sucrose-free Belvedere Vodka cocktails.

Elysium Magazine’s picks for the week

Tequila your thing? Check out The Cuervo’s Hacienda, a Mexican tequila garden pop-up (6th-12th Oct) recreated in the atrium of The Hoxton. The masterclasses are £10 but otherwise, entry is free and wristband holders enjoy the £4 cocktails.

Like Gin? Check out Caorunn Gin at The Punch Room (8th Oct) to enjoy cocktails made with fresh and foraged ingredients together with Caorunn Small Batch Gin at The Editon Hotel.

Whisky take your fancy? Check out Talisker whisky’s pairing night (9th Oct) where you’ll enjoy sipping its finest with oysters or blue cheese to the beat of live music.

There’s plenty more on offer throughout the week so the best advice is to pace yourself. Remember, LCT is about enjoying the finest cocktails at otherwise ridiculous prices. It’s all about the quality.
