Elysium Magazine was excited to see the first trailer for Mandela – Long Walk To Freedom. Played by the talented Idris Elba, the move is a chronicle of Nelson Mandela’s life journey from his childhood in a rural village through to his inauguration as the first democratically elected president of South Africa.

It explores the Mandela unknown to most of the world – the lover of fast cars and women, the boxing enthusiast and playboy, the skilful lawyer and the gun-toting freedom fighter – an intimate portrait of the making of a modern icon.

 

The UK trailer gives us a closer look at the makeup work used to age Idris and Naomie into older Nelson and Winnie roles. Early reviews for the movie have been strong, and there is already talk of Academy Award nominations.

 

 

Biopics are all the rage right now with Jobs still in the pipeline. Based on reviews for Mandela, this could be a must see feature for the end of the year.
