Whether you are looking for a comfy bed while on business or for a weekend in London, the Elysium team is here to help. We recently visited the hotel to see whether it would be suitable for the discerning gent – read on to find out what we think…

Location

The Metropolitan, London is a cool, contemporary hotel located on Park Lane. Numerous suites overlook Hyde Park, the green heart of London. On the borders of Knightsbridge and Mayfair, the Metropolitan is ideally situated for business and pleasure. The joys of the west end theatre land is walking distance, as are a number of great bars and restaurant.

In respect of the hotel itself, upon entry it is clear its an ideal hotel to take your significant other. An impressive interior makes an immediate impact – it was not surprising that its interiors were designed by United Designers and are pared-back and cosseting.

The reception staff were very friendly and attentive – walking us from reception to our fantastic room and outlining the facilities on offer at the hotel.

The Room

We were provided with a room overlooking the beautiful Hyde Park. The panoramic window stretched across the room provided an amazing feeling – looking down on London and its beautiful inhabitants. The light coming into the room provided a real feel of illumination.

The room was complete with a spacious work place – internet connectivity and docking for your laptop. Perfect for the working gent on the go. The room also has a 7 seater sofa, perfect for drinking some wine and overseeing London from the comfort of your room. The usual flat screen television and Apple connectivity docks (by Bose) were available for your entertaining needs.

The bathroom had a real spa feel – despite being in such a premium location in London, it was spacious and full stocked with luxurious products for the discerning gent or the lady you are trying to impress. The same products are used in the spas also located within the hotel.

Food and Drink

Not only does the hotel house some comfy rooms, it has a wellbeing center providing some great spa treatments. However, we were in for a treat when we find out the hotel also had the Nobu restaurant within it.

Nobu restaurant features Japanese-Peruvian, Michelin-starred cuisine, while the recently renovated Met Bar is a cult classic. There is a generous range of cocktails on offer and the bar staff are clearly experts in recommending what drink would suit your taste buds.

The Met Bar is a impressive but quiet spot with a number of regulars and residents popping in before hitting the west end.

Verdict

The Metropolitan hotel has the perfect location for a getaway where you’re treating your lady to a shopping and theatre weekend, a spa break or heading to London for the Olympic games. The hotel itself is intimate but certainly impressive. The rooms don’t disappoint and the comfort factor is impressive – all this for a competitive price within the heart of London.

If you are looking for a classy hotel with great service on call, a Michelin-starred restaurant and an entire section dedicated to your wellbeing, look no further than the Metropolitan Hotel in London.
