There is a lot to admire about the famed German efficiency. One point in particular that resonates well with the discerning gent is they make damn good cars. We’re not talking just mechanical efficiency though – style and functionality are done extremely well too. A case in point is Audi, the brand known for its Vorsprung durch Technik has a history of producing premium cars on the Desire list of many men.

The launch of the new A3 Saloon this autumn is building upon the hugely successful A3 – the powerful three-door hatch or five-door Sportback. What the A3 Saloon does is open the doors to the compact saloon car sector. Although this isn’t merely an A3 with a boot added on or simply a shrunken A4, it’s a new category altogether. The new A3 Saloon delivers a new shape and style form for the discerning gent who needs the room of a family saloon with the zippiness and versatility of a hatch.

Elysium Magazine had the opportunity to test drive the new A3 Saloon and we have to say we’re impressed. Smooth on the road, it’s a very comfortable and enjoyable drive – tight around the corners and able to really let the engine open up on the motorway. It’s available in manual or automatic in three engine sizes – the 1.4TFSI, 1.8 TFSI and the 2.0 TDI.

Inside it’s fully decked out in the kind of premium attire and little touches you’d expect from an Audi – luxury seating through and a premium audio sound system from Bang & Olufsen. Interestingly the new A3 Saloon also carries the connectivity needed in this day and age – internet access via 4G connection for super-fast downloads and the ability for others to surf and email through its own Wi-Fi hotspot. It’s all you’ll need and more with this sport saloon.
